  • "I wish I could give more stars! These people care about you and your closets! They want you to be happy and do a beautiful job. They are helpful in developing solutions for every type of closet and execute with perfection. I interviewed others and never felt truly comfortable. You will get the people you talk to that does your closet installation! A huge plus. When they are finished on the day of installation everything is cleaned and ready to use. They want you to be satisfied, and keep in touch with updates of when they will be there on day of install. Brandon and the crew along with Karen are people you will be glad you chose for your project."

  • "Brandon and Karen did a wonderful job on our hallway closet and bathroom vanity. They were communicative through the process and very reasonably priced. I highly recommend them for closet and cabinetry needs in the Charleston area!"

    Alice Lewis | June, 2026

  • "Loved working with Brandon and Karen. They are extremely professional, but friendly and personable. They listened to what I wanted and helped flesh out an idea for a coffee bar that I wanted to create in an area under my steps. We went back and forth a few times with designs until we created exactly what I had in mind. They were patient with that process, because they wanted to get exactly what I desired. The finished product was beautiful and the installation went smoothly. I am very happy with the results, would use them again (as I have) and would highly recommend."

    Allison Shira | May, 2026

  • "A fantastic renovation of a small bedroom into an efficient and functional walkin closet. Work was done on schedule and in the timeframe given. Excellent job!"

  • "My husband and I hired this company almost 7 years ago to redo our pantry. I'm still so in love with it. I was able to explain how i wanted to use the space and have it customized to for my needs. 2 schematics were drafted up with the prices of each for us to choose from. Measurements were taken during our in person consultation as well. As soon as one was chosen a date was scheduled for install. The installation took no time at all and they were in and out within a few hours. We love our pantry. We will definitely hire them to do our closets next. I highly recommend this company. You won't be disappointed and you will get exactly what you need with no upsaling atempts."

  • "Over the last 12 years, we have used Alane and Marty Whitaker and their company ”The Closet Solution” to build our closet shelving, office desks and shelving and living area bookcases as we renovated 3 different homes from top to bottom! Their work is flawless and they work closely with you to make sure the final product is exactly what you envisioned! We have recommended them to many of our friends who have had similar experiences with their work. We highly and without reservation recommend The Closet Solution as the company to solve your closet and space needs."

    Celeste Joseph | 2025

  • "We love Marty and Alane. They helped our family out with the best closet solution for our rooms. They knew exactly what we needed and they beat out competitors. I rarely write reviews but had to do it for this family owned closet company. Hard to find good companies these days."

    JJ | 2025

  • "Marty and Elaine installed a beautiful built-in closet in my home 12 years ago. Unfortunately, a few days ago I had to call them to dismantle that closet due to water damage. They go above and beyond to help their customers because they just left my home on Christmas Eve Day after having finished the dismantling process. They prioritized this in order that I could proceed with getting new floors installed as quickly as possible. They are a conscientious and caring couple who take pride in what they do and continue to take care of their customers after the closet installation. I highly recommend them for closet design and installation."

    Virginia Doll | 2025

  • "Closet solution did a wonderful job on my master closet. They were very professional and prompt. I would recommend they highly."

    Francette Wrobleski | 2025

  • "Alane and Marty did such a great job designing and building our closet! We originally had a wall down the middle of this room so I was looking for people who knew how all the pieces were going to work in a completely redesigned space. Their knowledge and experience were extremely helpful. 100% no regrets about this seamless process!"

    Rebecca Waechter | 2025

  • "Aptly named: Alane & Marty transformed a problematic situation in our garage into a functional & quite attractive solution. Their thoughtful & creative approach is really the definition of custom work. And they're really easy to work with. The accompanying photos don't do justice to the project."

    Denis Lesieur | 2024

  • "As repeat customers, we are here to say The Closet Solution is the only real solution! Words can not express how happy we are with our purchase from Marty and Alane. What a professional husband and wife team! Honest, dependable and excellent in every way. They designed and installed closets for me and my husband and a linen cabinet, too. Then, we had them build a closet for my mother-in-law. The product is high quality and the best part was no dust left behind, anywhere. Awesome! Awesome! Awesome! Highly recommend."

    Karen Farrell | 2023

  • "Alane & Marty were absolutely great to work with! I had a vision for our master closet and they brought it to life! We were told upfront the lead time and they met it. Alane worked with a couple of changes I had during the design process and Marty was efficient with the install. Thank you Alane & Marty!"

    Lori Stephens | 2023

  • "We had a storage issue in our 75 year old ranch house in south Texas and needed assistance with how to best use the space. The Tailored Closets team worked with us, provided practical suggestions and a design to help us envision what our custom closet would look like once installed. From design to installation our custom closet was truly “Tailored” and provided a quality solution to our storage needs. Needless to say, we could not have chosen a better company to work with and highly recommend you give the professional team at Tailored Closets a call."

    Bill Sanchez | 2022

  • "I couldn’t be happier to give Tailored Closets 5 stars. We used them years ago when we custom built our home and our layouts were perfect. Recently we moved into an older home with horrible closets - I’m talking one rod, weird little cubbies or absolutely empty spaces in the walls. We were desperate having come from such great layouts and in a time crunch as we couldn’t even properly unpack. Despite being so busy and with all the current supply chain issues Tailored closets came to our rescue and managed to get our closets in half the time of one of their competitors. They worked hard to figure out how to make these weird closets have the best possible layouts and now that my master closet is installed it has changed my world for the better. I’ve used them twice and love that they are local, friendly, quick to respond, professional and just overall great at what they do. When I get around to it I’m hoping to have them do my laundry/pantry area next. Can’t recommend them enough!"

    Melanie King | 2022

  • "We truly don’t have the words to express our gratitude to Marty & Alane. They built us our dream closet & built in wardrobe in our last home (an older home where even the walls weren’t straight so that in and of itself was impressive work!). Our only regret is that we didn’t do it sooner- it transformed our older home limited closet space problem into a space that was not only functional but beautiful as well! They even worked with us so that we could select finishes exactly like we wanted. Needless to say, when it was time for us to move into a bigger home for our growing family, that was the most difficult thing to leave!! Because of this we couldn’t resist asking for their help in our new home as well. They are not only professional, accommodating, organized & offer the best quality, but they are also kind and go above and beyond to ensure that the process is seamless (even our toddler loved them!). We can’t thank them enough!"

    Brooke Barnhardt | 2022

  • "Our master closet was such a mess – a mix of old wire fixtures the contractor had installed 25 years ago and some home improvement store custom closet fixtures that had started to fall apart after one year. I knew what I wanted but I didn’t know where to start. With so many companies on the web with shiny websites I was afraid that I would end up dealing with an inexperienced sales rep and overpaying at the same time. I was so glad my neighbor referred me to Alane and Marty. The process from start to finish was so easy. Marty came out to measure and look at the space, Alane then emailed me the plan. The plan was laid out clearly and suited the space and our needs exactly without having to make a single change. A few weeks later we stripped our old closet and painted it, by noon the next day our new system was installed. The materials are high quality and everything I wished for at a reasonable price. Walking into my closet now brings a big smile to my face. I would not hesitate to use this company again and refer them to anyone looking for closet solutions."

    Katie Kulp | 2021

  • "I wish 1 million stars was an option because this company deserves it! Alane and Marty designed and installed a beautiful and functional closet system in my laundry room/pantry/catch all room. I loved how Alane insisted on seeing my “organizationally challenged” space at worst in order to design a system to best fit our needs. She came up with an incredibly functional system to include pull out baskets for snacks, drawers to organize mail, hanging rod for laundry, even a place for my dog’s food. She and Marty installed it in less than a day—including touch up painting. The materials are durable and easy to clean. Eight years later the system still looks brand new! I am pleased to work with them again now on more cabinetry and a mud room space. I am grateful for their professionalism, creativity, responsiveness, expertise and attention to detail. A top notch company that comes highly recommend!"

  • "I am an interior designer who works in the Charleston, Mount Pleasant and Kiawah Island area and have been working with Tailored Closets for over five years. They have done multiple custom closets for me as well as my own personal home. I can't say enough about how wonderful they are to work with! From their professionalism, to their quality and price, they are unmatched. I recommend them again and again and from someone who has worked with many closet companies over the year...they are by FAR the best out there!!!!"

    Lauren LaRowe | 2021

  • "Tailored Closets did an amazing job with built-ins in our study and laundry room. From the initial virtual consult, I was so impressed with Alane. She really took the time to look at our existing space to see the stuff we had so she could anticipate our storage needs when designing the space. She gave us a date we would have our design by, and we had the design that day as promised. The initial design was wonderful and she worked with us closely to make small modifications to fit our needs even further. Her husband, Marty, came out to double check measurements before ordering. A few weeks later, Marty completed the install. The final product is of high quality and Marty and Alane made sure we were completely satisfied. We are so pleased with how everything turned out! Would highly recommend this wonderful couple to help transform your space. They are true professionals!"

    Leah McBee | 2021

    Barbara Adams | 2021

  • "I am extremely impressed with the outcome of my closet. It is beyond my expectations. I appreciate the care and concern they showed in wanting to make sure I am happy with the outcome. They all are so professional and listened to what I wanted and made it happen."

    Kathy Dickson | 2020

  • "We bought a new house in Mount Pleasant in 2017 to live in while we renovated our home on Isle of Palms. We tore out the contractor built closets and laundry room shelves in the Mount Pleasant house and used Tailored Closets to get exactly what we wanted. So, when it came time to do the closets in our newly renovated house on IOP, we did not hesitate to use Tailored Closets again to do all the closets in our house. They are the best contractor I have ever used!"

    Roland “Butch” Cody | 2020

  • "We met with the owners of Tailored Closets and gave them some ideas of what we were looking for and they presented excellent plans that met all our requirements. Initially, they designed and installed our walk-in closet, maximizing the space and providing indirect lighting . They transformed an otherwise dark and cluttered closet into a showpiece! We were so impressed with their professionalism and quality of work that we engaged them to design and install cabinets and workbench in the garage - now the envy of the neighborhood. We wholeheartedly recommend Tailored Closets."

    James Dyne | 2020

  • "Aline and Marty are a great team! We love our closet... just what we needed in everyone plus they pullout drawers everywhere. Perfect! Look no further for your closet needs!"

    Nadine Paradise | 2020

  • "We have used Tailored Closets several times now and are very happy with their work. They are thorough, professional, creative and provide an excellent value. They offer many choices and are a pleasure to work with!"

    Anne N | 2020

  • "Tailored Closets has done three large projects in organizing our home here in Charleston. In 2010 they did our master closet, pantry, linen closet, library and two other bedroom closets. In 2013 they organized our garage and a utility closet, and in 2016 they built shelving and armoires in our attic and another storage closet. Each time their planning provided 3D drawings and helpful suggestions as to how to maximize our space. Our three projects included some of their high end, some of their midrange and some of their more economical materials. All are of excellent quality, and punctually and professionally installed. We would not consider using anyone else if we were to do another home organization project in the Charleston area. Marty and Alane are a pleasure to work with and quite simply the best in their field."

    Nelson Winter | 2020

  • "Marty and Alane are so wonderful! We have used them for closets at three properties now and give referrals whenever we can. We will never use another company to install custom closets in Charleston. Would give them my highest recommendation!!"

    Joshua Hatter | 2020

  • "Alane was very helpful in the design process and patient while we decided on our final layout. The closet is beautiful and well made. We love it! Thanks Tailored Closets"

    Robyn tobias | 2020

  • "I was so happy with their work I had them come back and do more! The professionalism and quality of product is excellent. Alane arrives (on time!) and offers suggestions and measures. Her husband, Marty installs - again on time. That means so much to me. The product is beautiful. The first project was retrofitting deep shelves into pull out drawers - with dividers. Everything is so much neater and accessible. The second time, they built cabinets for my husband and more drawers. There are no rough edges and the products are polished and high end. They are both lovely to work with and I recommend them wholeheartedly - for retrofits as well as new builds. I wish they had done all of my closets!"

    Beebs B | 2020

    Steve Bottcher | 2019

  • "Alane and Marty at Tailored Closets are, quite simply, the finest business professionals we have worked with over many years. They are knowledgeable, professional, prompt, respectful, and superior at their craft: building out closet systems in all shapes and sizes. After an initial consult in which they add huge value during discussions, their initial designs are excellent, anticipating and reflecting our needs. And their installations are perfect, clean, functional, and beautiful. These are the best closet people in the business."

    Amy Novek | 2019

  • "This was our 4th project with Tailored Closets and we are again more than satisfied. Their personal approach, attention to detail, customer service and care of customer cannot be matched. They are consistent in their work, efficient, timely and the quality of their work and product exceeds exceptions. We could not be more pleased and will be a customer again soon!"

    Brianne Porter | 2019

  • "My husband and I recently had the pleasure (yes, it truly was) of doing an office and laundry remodel with Tailored Closets. We got multiple estimates from other companies and really liked that they were local, small business with very competitive pricing. They also have an amazing amount of swatches to select from for colors, as well as shaker style doors at base pricing! I would highly recommend using them for any and all cabinetry or closet needs!"

    Sarah Hawkins | 2019

    Chris Mitchell | 2019

  • "I can't say enough about Tailored Closets. They have done every closet in our new home, including pull outs in our kitchen cabinets and a pantry design. They are professional, high quality, and great to deal with. In addition, they managed to get far more into our walk-in closet than the other two designers from whom I had gotten estimates."

    Patricia Denholm | 2019

  • "What a wonderful closet we have! From the initial contact with Marty and Alane the entire process went so smoothly. They came and measured the space and the next day we had a very detailed email explaining and picturing everything they recommended. We discussed a few changes which they immediately considered and sent a new layout. We scheduled installation within 2 weeks. Two days after moving into our new home they installed the closet. The quality is exceptional and they made good use of every inch! Our closet us fantastic, functional and full! I would highly recommend Tailored Closets. You will not be disappointed!"

    Jane Durflinger | 2019

  • "We used Tailored Closets for two master closets and a butler's pantry. They did an amazing job! They captured our vision for the spaces perfectly by listening and offering professional expertise. Being a locally-owned company also made a difference because we weren't limited in our options to customize as necessary to fit into our spaces. We also appreciated the opportunity to see 3-D images of what our spaces would look like prior to build. Alane and Marty were very patient and professional throughout the experience and even after by following up with us to see how we are enjoying our spaces. We highly recommend them!"

    Kevin Barnes | 2019

  • "I have used Tailored Closets twice in both my homes and recently had them design and install a home office for my mother. There’s something to be said about the owners of a company meeting with you, providing a great design and doing the installation. From start to finish it’s obvious, Marty and Alane have an invested interest in making their clients happy. I would recommend Tailored Closets to anyone who wants a locally owned company that provides a great product and service. Be sure to ask about their LED lighting for the closet! We love ours. It’s not only functional but says WOW!"

    Keith Martin | 2019

  • "I have used Tailored Closets in two of my homes and love the workmanship, professionalism and the price. I would definitely recommend to anyone without hesitation."

  • "For our new home build, my husband and I wanted custom closets in all rooms. We shopped and compared custom cabinet company’s in the area, our decision was based on quality, lead time, price and professionalism. After meeting in person with Tailored Closets, from the start knew we had found what we were looking for. From the initial consultation to installation, this company has got what it takes. The team (Marty and Alane) provided an excellence of service no one could match. The process of initial quotation, measurements, 3D design, questions and status updates during selection process and detailed quote/invoicing so we knew exactly what we were getting. Fantastic suggestions for closet design and concept to make the design not only esthetically pleasing, but practical. It met all our needs with not only a high-end look, but met our storage requirements. Their products were of excellent quality standards, from type of materials to choice of hardware. Lead time was fantastic, around four (4) weeks from quote to installation. We couldn’t be happier with our choice and the end product, which has exceeded our expectations. We cannot understate their technical excellence and service. Thanks Tailored Closets!"
